Frequently asked questions

Currently CKGB donβt have plans available. This is mainly because there are so many individual inspiration cars to choose and base your machine on (there is not one Cyclekart the same!) There is however, lots of information online with plans for the traditional βStevenson Formulaβ ladder style chassis.
The best place to start is to download the CKGB guides here and study the measurements etc and then join the Forum so you can read peopleβs build journals and ask questions to the community - Weβre a friendly bunch!!!

Since the club started there are now places to get a lot of the basic parts to help build a Cyclekart. Have a look at the Cyclekart Workshop which will help plan your machine.

CKGB specifies that a Honda GX 200 or Clone variant is used to power the Cyclekarts. These are readily available and are a cheap, reliable engine that can can be easily modified to up to the Clubβs maximum of 10HP. They are mostly connected to a TAV Torque convertor similar to other go-karts.

The hobby is still growing, but CKGB tryβs to put on events across the UK that caters for its current membership base. Have a look here at the 2024 events list to give you an idea of what we do in a typical season.
People have built smaller versions of race cars since the dawn of motoring. Cyclekarts join that tradition with a formula that focuses on creativity, fun and not getting too serious!
These wonderful little machines bring us all together at events, circuits and car shows up and down the country where they are driven enthusiastically by their creators to entertain themselves and those who marvel at the wayside. Cyclekarts remind us of bygone years where pioneering engineers hand built machines to take racing on the weekends in the pursuit of adventure. These machines attract a diverse range of owners, but do not be fooled into thinking you have to have a degree in engineering to participate, as many pour just as much creativity and resourcefulness into their builds whilst emulating the period in a stylish fashion.
One thing is for sure, if you have a hint of oil running through your veins - once you drive one you will be hooked, they will make you smile and that just has to be good for for the soul.

What is a Cyclekart?
Cyclekarts are compact, lightweight, sports machines, usually hand made by their drivers for the pursuit of classic motoring sporting excitement, styled to resemble race cars from the 1920βs and 1930βs. They are not built to be serious race machines or show cars. Cyclekarts should be an expression of the owner's individual styling interests as well as sharing the pride in building one's own unique looking kart.
