Newark Kit Car Festival Review July 2023

When an opportunity arose to be included at the Newark Kit Car Festival, Some of the CKGB chaps were quick to sign up, as although this was a very last minute addition to the 2023 calendar it was certainly going to appeal to the audience and potentially help the growth of Cyclekarts in the UK.

Avid kit car (and Cyclekart) enthusiast Ian Fletcher led the boys at this event as he was also attending with the Spartan kit car club, so he knew what was what for the weekend. What he also probably knew was the weather was going to be no mans friend, but between downpours a track and exhibition area was created so when it actually stopped they could treat all who attended with some demo’s over the weekend. Captain Tannering, Big Jim and Mr Glenn along with grandson Flynn all chipped in and the stage was set.

On the Saturday when the weather was bad the karts were displayed in the main exhibition hall and proudly sat at the entrance for all to see. Trevor from 7 spot https://www.youtube.com/c/SevenSpot7Spot/videos conducted an interview with the club in the corner of the main hall where he talked about how to start out building a Cyclekart and the CKGB Club. Just after the interview the rain stopped and the sun made an appearance so the chaps had a cruise around the showground and headed back to the track. It was still wet on the grass and the CK's were mostly sideways but all the spectators seemed to like that!!

Thanks to all who showed an interest and had chats with us over the weekend as it made it all worthwhile. Another highlight was a photoshoot that will be issued in a future Kit Car magazine - what this space!!!

Overall, it was certainly a good test event for the club and with more attendance (both public and Cyclekarts), could see this as a regular on the CKGB calendar as there is also a kart track available to use called Elk Motorsport just over the road and with a bit more planning could be a 3 day extravaganza!! Roll on next year.
